The Metre Expert
The Supreme Lord here reveals how He gives His Divine Revelations incorporating Chanda (Poetic Metre), by mixing cryptic words with symbolic references, often hiding their real meaning in a way that they cannot be easily deciphered by everyone.
(Below is the revelation as extracted from Māḻikā, given by Śrī Guru Lord Jagannātha in Oḍiā; translated into English for the benefit of Mankind)
Original Transliteration
eṭhāre bujhibu saṃdeśa ।
jñāna sakaḻa kari toṣa ॥1॥
vividha bhāṣā re bayāna ।
karichi chanda rakhi jāṇa ॥2॥
chanda mohara mahāguru ।
chanda re muhim̐ mahāmeru ॥3॥
chanda mo prakṛti bhūṣaṇa ।
chanda re kare mum̐ bayāna ॥4॥
chanda vihita mo śarīra ।
chande pṛthvī ki hue sāra ॥5॥
chande mo nara āta yāta ।
chanda re hue mum̐ virāṭa ॥6॥
chanda kathā re manda lihi ।
pāruśechanti taba vihi ॥7॥
vividha vāṇī ehi pari ।
prakāśa kare pada joḍi ॥8॥
iti acyuti śaraṇaṃ
English Translation
Here you will understand my message,
Leaving aside all that is knowledge.
In the words and phrases various,
I have but added metre, know thus.
That metre is but my great teacher
I am the great mountain in metre.
Metre is my nature’s ornament
And in metre descriptions I state.
Metre ordained my body’s presence
In metre makes up the earth’s essence.
In metre my body comes and goes,
In metre I become ginormous.
Such metric words with wickedness mix
I serve to you here, thus do affix.
Various diction in this way coined
I manifest with the words enjoined.
Thus saying, Acyuti ends.
